Project ROPEs: Research Opportunities with Programming Experiences
Who We Are
Project ROPEs is a student-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to introducing students to the opportunities in research. With an engaging curriculum, we support student volunteers in teaching the basics of research to middle school students in their local communities.
“To teach the fundamentals of research and programming to students, guiding them on their journeys of scientific research.“

Our Volunteers have
Years of Science Fair
Research Crash Course
For the 2020-21 school year, we are offering free online RC² classes from late-October through March, guiding middle school students in conducting a science fair project of their own.
What is the format of the classes?
The class will be completely online, with 10 virtual sessions spanning late-October through March. Students will also have periodic check-ins with our volunteers, high school students with science fair experience.
Who can register?
Any rising/current middle schoolers (6th-8th grades) can attend! We currently have 4 RC2 chapters across 3 states, with curriculum tailored to fit the various regional fairs, but anyone is welcome to join a class.
What projects can students do?
Students can choose any science or engineering project that interests them! Our mentors will guide each student through the process, from writing the regional fair proposal to preparing for judging.

Python & Research-Oriented Programming
Our PROP Workshops teach advanced Python, with an emphasis on its application in scientific research.
Here what students that attended our 2020 summer Basic Python Workshops said:
“Pretty fun class where you get to learn lots of Python! This class has definitely kept me interesting in computer programming and wanting to learn more!”
“This class is really great since they offer great information and give the best to the class! I think this would be great for anyone that is interested in coding.”
“I learned a lot from this class. I was able to grasp concepts I previously struggled with through the examples and projects in this class.”
